Adeola Adenikinju

Professor Adeola Adenikinju, PhD in Economics from the University of Ibadan, is a distinguished economist and currently a Professor in the Department of Economics at the same university. He holds key roles as a Research Professor at the Centre for Econometrics and Allied Research and Senior Research Fellow at the Macroeconomic Study Group, both at the University of Ibadan.

Adeola has an extensive consulting background, having worked with prominent organizations such as the European Union, United Nations, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Company (NLNG), OECD, World Bank, and more. Notably, he contributed to the preparation of the First Perspective Plan for Nigeria and participated in the United Nations Project Link for economic projections in Nigeria. Adeola was a Visiting Scholar to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in 1996 and 2005.

His research interests span Petroleum and Energy Economics, Macroeconomic modeling, and Economic Development. Adeola has published prolifically in reputable local and international journals, showcasing his expertise. He holds memberships in various economic associations and has served in leadership roles, including Vice President and President of the Nigerian Association for Energy Economics.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Adeola has served in governmental capacities as a Special Assistant on Energy Matters and Senior Special Assistant to the President’s Chief Economic Adviser. Currently, he directs the Centre for Petroleum, Energy Economics and Law (CPEEL), a MacArthur Foundation Regional Centre of Excellence at the University of Ibadan, focusing on training, research, and consultancy in energy-related fields. Adeola is also the Editor of the Journal of Economic Management.
